Connie C. Kemp Obituary

Connie Caroline Kemp, 77, of Fremont, NE, passed away Thursday, October 21, 2021, at Methodist Fremont Health.

Connie was born April 14, 1944, in St. Edward, NE, to Lester and Bertha (Spiegel) Pope. She married Marvin Kemp on May 1, 1965 in Omaha, NE. Marvin preceded her in death on September 14, 2020.

Connie grew up on a farm near St. Edward, NE. She writes her earliest memory is having a coon and ducks as pets. Her family moved to Omaha when she was high school age. She worked a brief time after graduation before meeting the love of her life, Marvin Kemp through her brother, Les Pope and his wife Mitzie (who was Marvin's sister.) They married and began a family. They lived in Omaha until moving to Fremont in 2005. Marvin and Connie became members of the First Congregation Church. Connie participated in various clubs and activities at the church. This is where she met her most treasured friends. She was a HUGE Elvis fan. She never got to see him in person, but loved to attend Elvis impersonators. She enjoyed vacationing with Marvin, camping, collecting owls and going out to eat. She enjoyed crafting and sewing. When her girls were younger, she made clothes for them and their Barbie's. She loved to crochet and recently had gotten into card making. She had written about her grandchildren - "I loved all 8 of them. They were all special to me." About her girls she wrote "Loved my girls so very much even if I never said it to them." and Marvin, "Marvin is my one and only love I ever had. He is so precious to me." Her 2 great grandchildren were just the icing on the cake. She loved them so much.

She is survived by her 3 daughters, Denise (John) Morton of Fremont, Vicki (Mark) Paulson and Nancy (Eric) Thompson both of Omaha; brothers, Leslie Pope of Fremont and Tom (Carolyn) Pope of South Dakota; 8 grandchildren, Brian Williams, Shane Williams, Nicole (A.J.) Rolon, Justin Morton, Tyler Morton, Jessica Thompson, Katie Morton, and Ella Thompson; 2 great grandchildren, Alaina Rolon and Bennett Rolon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin; brothers, Gary and Norman Pope; and sister, Bonnie Mooney.

Memorial service will be held 10:30 AM, Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at First Congregational Church in Fremont. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with family receiving friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Burial will be at Omaha National Cemetery.
