Martha Lucille Sampson, age 86, of Prescott, Michigan, formerly of Mecosta, Michigan passed away Thursday morning, October 21, 2021 at Ascension Standish Hospital in Standish, Michigan. Martha was born September 12, 1935 in St. John’s, Michigan to the late Harry E. and Bessie P. (Beebe) Dewitt. After she graduated high school, Martha married Leonard J. Sampson on May 25, 1957 in Montrose, Michigan and together they raised three children, John, Caroline, and James. She was a housekeeper for numerous years at Mecosta General Hospital and retired in 1997. In her spare time, Martha enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and yard work. Martha is survived by her children, John P. Sampson of Lee, Florida, Caroline B. (Dean) LaLonde of Standish, Michigan, James K. Sampson of Prescott, Michigan; grandsons, John M. (Samantha) Sampson, Christopher S. Sampson; great granddaughter, Brooklyn Rayanne Sampson; many nieces and nephews; special friend, Kevin Tucker. In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard in 2002; brother, Dale Dewitt. According to Martha’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
