Gracie Lee Gilbert Obituary

On November 25, 1951 Gracie Lee was born to Lamon Lee Martin and Hazel (Pollard) Martin in Bonham TX. After her mother’s untimely death she and her sister Lorraine grew up in Kansas and Texas under the loving care of family members.

She married Major H. Williams, Sr., and to this union they had a son Major Jr. and daughter Shauntavia. In 1980 Gracie relocated to Midland, TX where she met her husband, Bobby Gilbert, they married in February of 1984 and to this union they had a daughter Nicole.

Gracie joined Mount Rose Baptist Church where she served for many years. She became an ordained minister and served the people of God as a preacher, teacher, intercessor, counselor, elder, and administrator. Gracie later followed God’s calling to serve at Stonegate Fellowship Church. She disclosed to us that God’s instructions to her were: “there is more that you need to learn.” Gracie served faithfully until her failing health.

Preceding her transition to a heavenly place, are her parents Hazel (Pollard) Martin and Lamon Martin and her sister Cornell Renfroe.

She is survived by her husband: Bobby Gilbert; her children: Major H. Williams, Jr. (Rachael); Shauntavia V. Williams, and Nicole M. Odusanya (Olurotimi); her beloved grandchildren: Shira and Shaylee Williams; Blythe and Barack Williams-White; her sister Lorraine Benton (Curtis); her nieces and nephews: Becky, Laticia, Michael, Jessica, Curtis Jr, Jermain, Erica, Lorian; and a host of grand-nephews and grand-nieces and other relatives and friends; as well as a host of sons and daughters in the ministry whom she spoke prophetically into their lives and helped pave the way for their own ministries.

“Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it TO GET A CROWN THAT WILL LAST FOREVER…..”after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.”
