William "Bill" G. Moran

<p>&nbsp;&nbsp; William &ldquo;Bill&rdquo; Moran, age 86, of Reedsburg, passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at his home following a long illness. He was born in Mauston, WI, on August 20, 1935.&nbsp; He was the son of Edward and Genevieve (Steiner) Moran.&nbsp; He married Sue Ann Hoeverman on August 10, 1963.&nbsp; Bill graduated from LaCrosse State College with a degree in physical education and six years later he received his Master&rsquo;s degree in Guidance and Counseling from Stout State College.&nbsp; Bill&rsquo;s life was guided by his love of playing sports and coaching, especially basketball.&nbsp; His coaching career spanned several decades at several different schools.&nbsp; The highlight of his coaching career was taking two Reedsburg High School basketball teams to the state tournament in 1971 and 1975 before there were divisions based on high school enrollment. He was inducted into the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2000 and Reedsburg Athletic Hall of Fame in 2008 with a career record of 253-166. In his role as a teacher he especially enjoyed counseling his students into successful career pathways.</p> <p>&nbsp; Bill is survived by his wife, Sue; sons: Daniel (Kathy) Moran and Michael (Kelly) Moran; five grandchildren, Jake, Katy, Olivia, Casey, and Ben Moran; a son-in-law: John (Jack) Ward; his siblings: Chuck Moran and Sara Griffin, and numerous nephews and nieces.&nbsp; He was preceded in death by his daughter: Kelly Ward.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp; &nbsp;Memorials to a scholarship fund for Reedsburg High School seniors planning on majoring in education or to the Sacred Heart Church maintenance fund would be appreciated.&nbsp; Visitation will be at Sacred Heart Church on Sunday, October 24, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M.&nbsp; Private funeral services for immediate family will be held on Monday.&nbsp; We would especially like to thank the Agrace hospice team for their support in Bill&rsquo;s final days that allowed him to stay at home.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;The Hoof Funeral Home is serving the family.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
