<p>Joanne Evelyn Kushnier passed away peacefully at Hogarth Riverview Manor on October 20, 2021. Born on November 17, 1954 in Fort William, Ontario, she was raised and educated in local schools and attended Algonquin College of Journalism in Ottawa, Ontario. She was employed as a journalist with the Chronicle Journal retiring in 2015 after 40 years of service. </p><p><br></p><p>Joanne was always quick to make those around her laugh. She brightened the day of anyone she spoke with and she will be fondly remembered by all for her fantastic sense of humor and quick wit. She was an avid fan of the Montreal Canadiens, New York Yankees and Minnesota Vikings. Most recently she was a member of the Board of Directors at the Westfort Prosvita. </p><p><br></p><p>Joanne is survived by her brother Dave (Cynthia) Kushnier, Vancouver BC and her nieces Melanie (Ryan) Colter, Surrey BC, Kimberly (Jason) Halliday, Langley BC and nephew Jeff (Amy) Kushnier, Surrey BC, along with her great nephews Masen, Connor &amp; Max and great niece Brielle, all of whom she adored. She is also survived by numerous cousins. </p><p><br></p><p>She was predeceased by her father John in 1992 and mother Audrey in 1994.</p><p><br></p><p>Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held at a later date. </p><p><br></p><p>A celebration of life for family &amp; friends will be held on Friday, November 5, 2021 from 1 -4 p.m. at the Westfort Prosvita 721 Gore Street. Masks, proof of vaccination and government issued ID is required.</p>
