<p>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="font-family:georgia,serif;"><span style="font-size:22px;">Deborah Huntley Adkins, age 72 of Forest City, died Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.&nbsp; She was born on October 14, 1949, in Rutherford County and was a daughter of late Joseph and Frances Simpson Huntley.&nbsp; Debbie as she was known was an educator and taught at Ruth Elementary School and finally at Forest City Dunbar where she retired.&nbsp; Following retirement, she continued to serve in the after-school program.&nbsp;</span></span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="font-family:georgia,serif;"><span style="font-size:22px;">She was a graduate of R-S Central High School in the Class of 1967 and attended Appalachian State University and later Gardner-Webb College where she received her bachelor&rsquo;s and master&rsquo;s degree in education.&nbsp;</span></span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="font-family:georgia,serif;"><span style="font-size:22px;">Debbie was a faithful member of Bethany Baptist Church where she was a member the Circle of Christian Friends Sunday School Class, she was also a Sunday school teacher and she served as chairperson for the Bereavement Food Committee.&nbsp; She also enjoyed volunteering with Mt. Creek Baptist Church Soup Ministry.&nbsp;</span></span></p> <p><span style="font-family:georgia,serif;"><span style="font-size:22px;">Debbie was a hard worker, and she loved her family.&nbsp; She enjoyed cooking, canning and freezing.</span></span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="font-family:georgia,serif;"><span style="font-size:22px;">In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Sue Huntley</span></span></p> <p><span style="font-family:georgia,serif;"><span style="font-size:22px;">Survivors include her son, Travis Chandler Keeter of Union Mills, her grandchildren, Courtney Keeter and Thomas Keeter, her sisters, Sandy Huntley and Cindy Calvert and husband Hollis all of Forest City, two stepchildren, Joel Adkins of Forest City and Amy Adkins of Lansing, Michigan.</span></span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="font-family:georgia,serif;"><span style="font-size:22px;">A memorial service will be held at 3 o&rsquo;clock Sunday, October 24, 2021, at Bethany Baptist Church with Reverend Chris Fox officiating.&nbsp; The family will receive friends in the sanctuary from 2 until 3 o&rsquo;clock prior to the service.&nbsp;</span></span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="font-family:georgia,serif;"><span style="font-size:22px;">Memorials may be made to Bethany Baptist Church, Family Bereavement Ministry, 760 Bethany Church Road, Forest City, North Carolina 28043 or F.A.I.T.H. Deborah Huntley Adkins, age 72 of Forest City, died Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.  She was born on October 14, 1949, in Rutherford County and was a daughter of late Joseph and Frances Simpson Huntley.  Debbie as she was known was an educator and taught at Ruth Elementary School and finally at Forest City Dunbar where she retired.  Following retirement, she continued to serve in the after-school program.
