William "Bill" Marks Kitchener, Ontario Obituary

William "Bill" Marks

Marks, William Dennis Bill died peacefully on Monday, October 18, 2021, at Hospice Wellington in Guelph, Ontario. Born December 27, 1946, in Brampton, Ontario. Son of Pauline and Bert of Schomberg. Youngest brother of Jim and his wife Joan, Pat and her husband Clive, and Mic. Dear nephew of Ollie and Vicky. Beloved husband of Theresa for 52 years. Devoted father of Bill (1969-2021) and his wife Karen of Kitchener, and Dan of Vancouver. In 1954, after Hurricane Hazel destroyed their home in Woodbridge, Bill’s family moved to Schomberg. Jack Foran and Bob Jessop were just two of the many great friends that Bill made there. After graduating from Ryerson, Bill worked for Colgate-Palmolive, and BP, before joining Deb Canada. Bill started with Deb as a sales rep and retired as the Managing Director and believed that his employees were just as important as the product they were selling. Bill worked hard and he played hard. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, reading, and playing the piano. A kid at heart, he liked collecting flashlights, magnets and batteries. After his retirement, Bill and Theresa purchased a cottage at the French River where he enjoyed countless hours with the good friends he and Theresa made there. Bill was a generous supporter of the Waterloo Regional Food Bank, many local hospitals, and St Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver. He will be missed by his nieces Barbara, Diane, Shelley and her husband Brad, Darcie and her husband Chris, and nephew Darren and his husband Jamie. Bill will also be missed by his many friends, and the neighbourhood kids and dogs. Bill’s family wishes to thank his cousins Jackie and Patrice of Winnipeg for their support. His family also wishes to thank Dr Habib and his staff, and the staff of Grand River Hospital and Hospice Wellington. Bill's family will receive relatives and friends from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 24, 2021 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener. Those wishing to attend Bill's visitation must RSVP through the funeral home website or by calling 519-749-8467. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Grand River Hospital Foundation, Hospice Wellington, or Food4Kids Waterloo Region.
