<p> Kathleen Marie Wasinger, 75, died Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at The Cottages in Garden City, Kansas. She was born January 15, 1946 in Garden City, Kansas the daughter of John &amp; Odelia (Applehans) Wasinger.</p><p><br></p><p> Kathleen grew up in Garden City where she attended Garden City schools. She graduated from Garden City High School in 1964. Kathleen then attended and graduated from Fort Hays State University in 1969 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She moved to Denver, Colorado where she worked as Certified Public Accountant until the early 1990’s. She then attended and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Colorado. Kathleen started a nursing career where she worked as a Registered Nurse at Rose medical Center in Denver. In 2005, she was recognized as Nurse of the Year. She continued working until her retirement in 2014. Kathleen moved back to Garden City in 2015 where she has lived since. Kathleen enjoyed reading, golfing, walking with her friends and walking her dogs, and listening to music especially Neil Diamond. </p><p><br></p><p> Survivors include a sister Marnieta L. “Marti” Pile of Garden City; a brother Vernon Wasinger of Deerfield, Kansas; and many nieces and nephews. Kathleen is preceded in death by her parents; 7 brothers Leo, Richard, Cyril, Larry, Sy, Cletus, &amp; Ronnie; and a sister Anna Mae Stoppel.</p><p><br></p><p> A Rosary will be held at 10:00 a.m. with funeral Mass following at 10:30 a.m. both on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Garden City, Kansas with Fr. Jacob Schneider as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in garden City. Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. The family suggests memorials given to the Finney County Humane Society or to St. Mary Catholic Church, both in care of the funeral home.</p>
