Lillian Ann Allen Obituary

Lillian Ann Allen, age 89, passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2021, in Whitney.  Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, October 22, 2021, at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro.  A viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, October 21, 2021, at Marshall and Marshall in Hillsboro, with the family receiving friends from 5:30 – 7:30 p. m.

Lillian was born December 19, 1931, in Hillsboro, Texas, the daughter of Sam and Mable (Duvall) Klutts.  She attended school in Hillsboro, graduating in 1948.  She worked for Southwestern Bell as a telephone operator before she began her family.

Glen Allen and Lillian married on December 22, 1951.  They had three beautiful children, Barbara, Mike, and Kenny.

They purchased the farm across the road from Lillian’s parents in Hillsboro in 1953, where they spent almost 70 years together.  They began raising their own Registered Polled Herford cattle.

They began showing in 1971, winning every major Polled Hereford championship – Fort Worth, Denver, Memphis, Louisville, Dallas, Tulsa, Kansas City, Phoenix, Billings, Houston, and more.  In 1985, they sold their Polled Herefords and began raising Brafords.  In 1986, the Fort Worth Polled Hereford Show was dedicated to Glen and Lillian for their outstanding achievements.  They were also awarded the Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce Farm Family of the Year Award in 1986.  They began their foundation herd of Registered Boer goats in the 1990’s.  The Allen family legacy of quality goats continued for many years.

Lillian loved pets since she was a little girl, and had chickens, a squirrel, goats, dogs, a goose, calves, horses, and many more.  Later in life, she enjoyed raising and training Australian Shepherds, where she won many titles of obedience with her dogs.  She was the author of an article titled, “The Story of Allen’s Ebony Joey”, published in the Aussie Times in 1993, about the family dog, Joey.

Lillian was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Hillsboro First Baptist Church for 73 years, where she attended both worship and the Esther Sunday School class.  She loved having a beautiful yard and watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren showing their animals, barrel racing, sports, and other activities.  She was such a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  We will miss her love and unwavering support to us.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Glen Allen in February, 2021; and grandson Brian Glen Allen in 2008.

Lillian is survived by their children, Barbara Dudley and husband Gerald of Whitney, Mike Allen and wife, Sharon of Whitney, and Kenny Allen and wife Lori of Hillsboro; three living grandchildren, Amy Hoffman and husband Nick of Whitney, Kelly Allen of Stephenville, and Kory Allen and fiancé Spencer Holt, of Fayetteville, AR; eight great grandchildren, Cassie Allen and Camryn Camp of Peoria and River Hoffman and Hunter Hoffman of Whitney; Payton Wright and Presley Wright of Sherman, Blair Dudley and Connor Dudley of Weatherford; granddaughter in law, Sarah Allen Camp and husband, Mike of Peoria, and two nieces.

The family would like to give special thanks to the Country Club Retirement Center entire staff, friends at the Retirement Center, and special sitters Jamie, Angela, Tammy, and Kim.  We are also thankful for Amedisys Hospice nurses Vanessa and Chrystal.
