ROCKPORT - Betty Lou P. Schlemm, 87, of Rockport, passed away Monday evening, October 18, 2021 at Den-Mar Nursing Home in Rockport. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Mary E. (Bushman) Schlemm. Betty Lou was educated in New Jersey and was a graduate of Bogota High School in Bogota, NJ. She continued her education by attending the Phoenix Art School. Betty Lou was a well renowned Artist locally for over thirty years and a published author with North Light Publications. Betty Lou was a member of the American Watercolor Society and the Dolphin Fellowship. She was awarded the American Watercolor Society's Silver Medal. Betty Lou had served as Secretary of the Allied Artists of America, a former Vice President of the Boston Watercolor Society. And served as a former President of the Rockport Art Association. She held many workshops and was a successful author. She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Franco and her husband Edward of Newtown, PA; two nieces, Lisa Yuskevich and her husband Brian of Doylestown, PA and Jennifer Domanski and her husband Michael of Bonita Springs, FL; one nephew, Edward John Franco of Newtown, PA and five grand nephews. Her funeral service was held privately.
