Mr. Irvin K. “Irv” Spoonhour, 58, of South Mountain, PA, passed away Monday, October 18, 2021 in Waynesboro Hospital. Born June 24, 1963 in Waynesboro, he was the son of Mrs. Delma M. (Reheard) Spoonhour and her companion Sherle Starner of South Mountain and the late Garnet E. Spoonhour, Sr. He was a graduate of Waynesboro Area Senior High School with the Class of 1981. In early years, he did flooring work in the local area. He currently was employed by Knouse Foods for the past 30 years. He began his career at the Peach Glenn Facility where he worked for several years before transferring to Ortanna where he worked for the last 27 years. He was a member of South Mountain Fish and Game Association, Sons of the AmVets and the NRA. In younger years, he could often be found in the outdoors whether hunting, fishing or camping. More recently, he enjoyed time spent with his family and friends often treating them to his delicious food. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 25 years, Mrs. Sandra R. “Sandy” (Brown) Spoonhour who he married August 23, 1996; daughter, Tasha L. Stambaugh of Waynesboro; siblings, Clarence L. Spoonhour, Curtis A. Spoonhour, Donald R. Spoonhour and Charles W. Spoonhour, all of South Mountain, Lillie M. Vinson of Rouzerville and Sandra D. McCoy of Falling Waters, WV; a number of nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family and friends. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Martina M. Powell and Yolanda S. Gesell; and three brothers, Randal D. Spoonhour, Garnet E. Spoonhour, Jr. and Robert W. Spoonhour. Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, October 23, 2021 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 South Broad Street, Waynesboro with Pastor Colin Morley officiating. Burial will follow in Strang’s Cemetery, South Mountain. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, Saturday, in the funeral home.
