John Wiley Davis, Jr., 89, of Forest passed away Sunday, October 17, 2021. He was the loving and devoted husband of the late Margaret Ann Hughes Davis for 62 years. Born January 4, 1932 in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late John Wiley Davis Sr. and Lockie Dinkins Davis and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Glenda Fitch and eight sisters. John proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a retired Industrial Engineer with Limitorque with over 21 years of service. He was a life member of the Institute of Industrial Engineers, a member of the VFW and American Legion Post 16. He was a longtime member of Memorial Christian Church where he served in the Smoot Class, WOW Bible Study and as Elder. He enjoyed traveling and fishing but most of all taking care of his wife and spending time with his family. He is survived by a daughter, Suzanne D. Jones and husband, Eddie; a granddaughter, Christa Matos and husband, Jonathan; a great-granddaughter, Marleigh; step-grandson, Troy Jones and companion, Shellie; and other relatives and friends. A Celebration of John’s Life will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 21, 2021 in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Service by Rev. George B. Harris with burial to follow with military honors by American Legion Post 16 in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
