Peter A. Sementilli Jr. Obituary

Peter Anthony Semetilli Jr., 65 of Rotterdam Junction, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 17, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving wife and family by his side.  Peter was born in Jamaica, NY and moved to Schenectady, in 1969 with his family.  A 1974 graduate of Linton High School, Peter was a long time employee of the City of Schenectady for thirty-five years.  He was married to the love of his life, Karen (Liscio) for nearly thirty years.  Peter and Karen owned and operated Capri Imports Italian Deli on Broadway in Schenectady since 1993 after his parents, Peter and Gina retired.  He loved being at the store so much, and kept the traditions going that his parents started and now, his younger cousin Anthony has taken over to carry on where Peter left off.  Peter was the Matriarch of the family, always there for whatever we needed.  His life revolved around them.  He had many cousins who were dear to him.  He loved catching up with his friends at the cappuccino bar on Sundays.  He made lots of friends over the years, the list is too long to mention.  We would like to acknowledge the friendship of Father Frisoni who became such an important part of his life and Peter looked forward to his visits every Sunday.  Peter had a great sense of humor, rough at times. His nieces Christina and Dianna, and also R.J. and Mike Brush meant the world to him and held a special place in his heart.  Peter was a wonderful husband, brother, uncle, Godfather, and a great friend to so many.  His wife Karen was always by his side over the years through thick and thin.  She took such great care of him.

He was predeceased by his parents Peter Sementilli and Gina (Scarappichia), his mother and father-in-law, Lawrence and Catherine Liscio, brother-in-law, Ralph Liscio (surviving wife Terry).  He loved spending time with all of them and missed them dearly.
Peter is survived by his loving wife Karen, sister, Anna Friskey (Fred) and their daughter, Christina Friskey-Davis (Steve), also sister, Lucia Carroll (James) and their family Dianna Russell (Jeremy), John, Jimmy, Shannen, and Brayden Carroll.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, October 22, at 12 noon at St. Paul the Apostle Church on Albany St., followed by entombment to which everyone is welcome, in Sts. Cyril and Method Cemetery.  For everyone's safety, at the family's request, we ask all who attend to please wear a mask.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish to remember Peter in a special way may make a contribution to the ASPCA or a charity of ones choice.

Peter's family is heartbroken, and he will be deeply missed.
