Anita J. Syfert (87) passed away on October 17, 2021. She was born on July 16, 1934 to William and Dorothea Alberta (Wellein) Leibold in Maybee, Michigan.
Anita was a full-time homemaker and part-time food clerk/cashier for 30 years. After her children were grown, she ran the family owned square-dance apparel store called ‘Jean and Jer’ for 3 years. She and her husband Jerry exhibited and sold their woodwork/sewing creations at many high-end craft shows, under the business name of the ‘Briarpatch’.
Anita is survived by her children; Natalie Sweitzer (Mark) of Maryland, Nanette Cepko (Mike) of Maryland, Nancy Wolnitzek (Larry) of North Carolina, Nadine Pfaffman (Tom) of Maryland, Nola Kundu (Michael) of Washington State, Noreen Harrell of Maryland, Debra Syfert (Daughter in Law) of Maryland, 18 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and David Rittinger of Michigan (Brother in Law).
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Jerry; her son, Gregory Syfert; her great-granddaughter, Hannah Faith; her son in law, Ray Harrell, Jr.; her parents, William and Dorothea Alberta Leibold; her sisters, Amanda Davis (Robert), Loretta Kelly (Paul), and Mary Rittinger; her niece Karen Kelly; her nephews Kevin Kelly, Kenneth Kelly, and ‘Billy Joe’ Davis.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021 @ 10 am at St. Christopher's Catholic Church, 1861 Harbor Drive, Chester MD 21619. Interment to be held Monday, December 6, 2021 at Gates of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring MD. Interment will be private.
