Elizabeth (“Betty”) Wilson Ennis, 94, of Westerly, RI, formerly of Avon, CT and Brewster, NY, passed away on Sunday morning, October 17, 2021 at the Carriage House at the Elms in Westerly. She was predeceased by her husband Edward, her brother Charles Wesley Wilson and her sisters Grace Wilson Calabro and Dorothy Wilson Mills. She is survived by her daughters Pamela Maxwell (Thomas Maxwell), of Milford NH and Laurel Ennis (Leslie Ryan) of Westerly, her son David Ennis (Barbara Batten Ennis) of Ozona FL, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Betty was born in Englewood, NJ on May 24, 1927, the daughter of Charles Wesley Wilson and Grace Edwards Wilson. She graduated from Dwight Morrow High School and Greenwich Hospital School of Nursing in Greenwich, CT, where she worked as a registered nurse for several years. She subsequently worked for the Brewster New York School District as the school nurse in JFK Elementary School.

Betty shared an amazing 67 years of marriage with her best friend. They enjoyed an active social life, entertaining friends and family, dancing and playing tennis. She was happiest spending time with her family and working in her flower and vegetable gardens. Betty loved meeting new people and seeing new places, traveling extensively throughout the US, Europe and Africa. She was actively involved in multiple charitable organizations throughout her adult life.

The family thanks the private caregivers and staff at the Carriage House for their amazing support, care and affection for our mother.
