Boaventura J. Goncalves, 94, passed away on Sunday, October 17, 2021, at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Julia (Silva) Goncalves. Born in Brava, Cape Verde Islands, he was the son of the late Jose Goncalves and Ana (Pina) Goncalves. Mr. Goncalves was a chef and worked in the maritime industry for over 30 years until he retired. Mr. Goncalves was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Besides his wife he leaves two daughters, Ana Baptista and her late husband, John J. Baptista, Sr. of East Providence, Eugenia Pires, and her husband Marcelino of Seekonk, one son, Dean Goncalves, and his wife Kim of Fairhaven, five grandchildren, John Baptista, Charlie Pires, Julia Pires, Evan Goncalves, Ethan Goncalves, and one great-grandchild, Xavier Baptista. He was the brother of the late John Goncalves. His funeral will be held on Monday, October 25, 2021, at 9:00 AM from the PERRY-MCSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Saint Martha’s Church, Pawtucket Avenue. Burial will be held in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours on Sunday from 3-7 P.M.
