Mr. James Edward Denney, better known as “Ed” age 73, of Warrensville, passed away Tuesday morning, October 19, 2021 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 24, 2021 at 12:00 pm at Apple Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Julian Owen officiating. Burial will follow in the Denny-Johnson Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 11:00-12:00 pm at Apple Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Denney was born in Ashe County on February 4, 1948 to the late Jessie and Carrie Keys Denney. He worked as a Logger for most of his life. Ed was a Deacon for 22 years and a choir director at Apple Grove Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening and working on tractors but most of all he loved his family. He was a devoted and loving, husband to Bonnie for 54 years. He always enjoyed his children and grandchildren visits. He will be truly missed. He is preceded in death by his siblings; Merline, Mimble, Mary, John, Joe, Jack, and Mickie. Mr. Denny is survived by his wife, Bonnie Wyatt Denny, three children; Anita Jones and husband Rick of Boone, Annette Seatz and husband Eugene of West Jefferson, and Jamie Denny and fiancé Emily of Warrensville, one sister; Ruthie Shoemaker of Wilkesboro, one brother; Ralph Denny and wife Carol of West Jefferson, eight grandchildren; Dusty Hartsoe and wife, Maranda, Kayla Bowlin and husband, DJ, Cheyenna Jones, PJ Phillips and wife, Leonia, Kandace Grit and husband, Dakota Zachary Denny, Faith Denny, and Elizabeth Moseley; eleven great-grandchildren; Bowen Grit, Waylon Grit, Rose Grit, Kaylee Lewis, Sierra Adams, Megan Adams, Toryn Lewis, Colter Lewis, Hunter Bowlin, Macie Bowlin and Samantha Bowlin; several nieces and nephews also survive. Flowers will be appreciated.
