James Harrison Leathers, Jr of Mansfield, GA, passed away on October 16, 2021 at age 83. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be greatly missed. Jim was born August 4, 1938 in Decatur, GA, the son of the late James Harrison Leathers, Sr and Maude Lockett Leathers. He attended Decatur City Schools, graduating in 1956 from Decatur High. He was a member of Decatur First United Methodist Church, and was an Eagle Scout. Jim earned a BBA degree in Accounting from Emory University in 1960, where he was a proud member of Sigma Chi fraternity. He was self-employed as a Certified Public Accountant and a realtor. Jim was a member of Newborn United Methodist Church, the Old Guard of the Gate City Guard, the Sons of Confederate Veterans, and the Georgia Society of CPAs. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Patty, daughters LeeAnne Lutz (Robert) and Susan Clark (Denver), seven grandchildren, one great grandchild, brother Robert T Leathers (Nancy) and niece Laura Bolsen (Todd). He was preceded in death by his son, James Harrison Leathers, III and his nephew, Robert T. Leathers, Jr. Visitation will be Thursday, October 21 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm and funeral service Friday, October 22 at 11:00 am, at A S Turner and Sons in Decatur.
