Pamela Kay Boyce transitioned to heaven the afternoon of October 16th, at home with her loving family. Pamela was born September 1, 1953, in Fresno, California. She was the second of four children born to Bill & Gayle Curtis. Raised in Fresno, she graduated from McLane High School and then moved to Provo, Utah, to live with her sister, Christy. It was there she met and married David Tracy in 1974 and moved to his hometown of Burley, Idaho. She became the proud mother of 3 children, Brandon, Crystal and Ryan “Bubba”. While living in Burley, she worked at Blocks, a high-end clothing store, and later Inspirations, an interior design company, where she was able to develop her love of fashion and interior design. She had a natural ability, and loved to decorate. She later managed and operated an FBO at the Burley airport for many years, where she was also able to learn the fundamentals of flying from her father, who was a certified pilot. She loved telling the story of when Bruce Willis flew into the Burley airport and she was able to meet him, and help him travel to Sun Valley, Idaho. Pam was an excellent skier and later became one of the first women passing all tests to become a member of the National Ski Patrol at Pomerelle Mountain Resort in Southern Idaho. She taught all her children to ski and enjoyed spending time with them on the mountain. Pam went through many hardships while living in Idaho, including the passing of her daughter, Crystal, who accidentally drowned in the Snake River in the summer of 1994, right after graduating high school. Six months later to the day, her eldest son, Brandon, was involved in a rollover car accident. He required full-time hospital care for almost 3 years, until he passed away in 1997. She had many dear friends who were there to help her through those difficult years and she has been forever grateful for them. Pam moved to Mountain View, California, and in 1996, she married Kim Boyce in the Oakland Temple. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple a year later. She inherited 3 step-sons, Brian, Kyle and Steven Boyce, whom she loved and helped raise along with Bubba. She took a position with Kim’s company, Reflect Scientific, as a purchasing manager and helped him run the company for over 20 years, until her retirement in 2019. She loved hiking. She hiked many times to the top of Mount Timpanogos the second highest mountain in Utah. She loved watching and playing sports and was very competitive with every thing she did. She loved anything to do with Paris, France, where her son Bubba served his mission. She was able to go there several times with her son, one of which included her father who served in World War II. She enjoyed many trips to the Kea Lani in Maui, where she body surfed, paddle boarded with the turtles, snorkeled and zip lined with a view of the ocean. One of Pam’s greatest treasures were her grandkids. She absolutely adored them and loved being a part of their lives. She made a point to be there for them any chance she could. She had a way of making them feel like they were the most important person to her. In July of 2019 Pam was sadly diagnosed with Glioblastoma Stage 4, a very aggressive brain tumor totally devastating her family and changing their lives forever. Within days of her diagnosis, she had major brain surgery by Dr. Howard Reichman, one of the best neurosurgeons in the Western States. His incredible skills gave Pam two additional years to spend with her family. She then underwent brutal chemotherapy and a massive amount of radiation. Pam was a warrior, never complaining or feeling sorry for herself. Her famous comment was “It is what it is.” Pam was an inspiration to those that knew her. She was cared for by so many great people, family, neighbors, friends, and hospital/hospice professionals. Her loving sister Christy was her guardian angel. She was there through thick and thin, driving from North Salt Lake to Provo many days and nights every week. We could not have done it without her. Pam was preceded in death by her father, two children and brother. She is survived by her husband, mother, two sisters, son, three step-sons, and fourteen grandchildren. There will be a viewing on October 25th from 6-8pm, and on October 26th from 12:30pm - 1:30pm at Nelson Family Mortuary, 4780 N University Ave, Provo, UT 84604. Funeral services will be held at 2pm on October 26th at the same location. Masks will be required at the family’s request. Pam will be laid to rest next to her children, Brandon and Crystal on Friday, November 5th at the Paul Cemetery in Idaho. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to the American Cancer Society. Send a Meaningful Gift or Donation
