Sabino Giannitti Obituary

Sabino “Sam” Giannitti, 72, resident of Stamford, CT, passed away on Sunday, October 17th 2021, at Stamford Hospital, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on December 16th, 1948 in San Mango Sul Calore, Italy, predeceased by his parents Rafaele Giannitti & Albina Coppola. Sabino is survived by his loving wife Amalia Rita Giannitti, daughter Erica Sabina Giannitti and his future grandchild. Brother Claudio Giannitti of Torino, Italy (Wife: Caterina, Children: Rafaele and Franceso). He is also survived by Aunts, Uncles, many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends in Italy and the United States who all adored his sense of humor & jokes. He immigrated to Stamford, CT when he was 17 years old, where he worked hard to learn his new language by attending night school to fulfill his American Dream. He previously worked for Western Union and then began his successful career as an IT Engineer for Reuters America & Thomson Reuters, retiring at age 68. In his spare time, he was also a landscaper for private families. His daily routine after retirement consisted of his morning coffees with his cousins, walks at Scalzi Park, and afternoon espresso at Enzo’s Deli. He also took pride in gardening, cooking, and enjoyed numerous projects. He could fix and build anything he put his mind to. When he walked into a room everyone knew Sam was there. He was the life of the party and put a smile on everyone’s face. He looked forward to his yearly trips to Italy, with his wife and daughter, to visit family and friends. He enjoyed showing them his hometown and continuing his traditions. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations to be made in Sabino’s name to the Stamford Hospital, Cardiac Unit. A special thank you to Dr. Coady, Dr. Martin, and the staff at Stamford Hospital who worked tirelessly for his care. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, October 26 from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at Lacerenza Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford. Burial will be private.
