<p>Garden City - Charles A. “Chuck” Messenger, 71, died on Saturday, October 16, 2021, at Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born on August 11, 1950, in Scott City, Kansas, the son of Donald R. &amp; Wauneta I. (Strickert) Messenger. He married Cindy D. Kowalke on September 18, 1971, in Garden City.</p><p><br></p><p>Chuck graduated from Holcomb High School and joined his father on the family farm. He was a lifelong farmer - stockman in Northern Finney County. Chuck was a life member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Garden City and served on the Endowment Board for the church. Chuck was an active member of the Finney County Farm Bureau and the American Quarter Horse Association. He enjoyed collecting coins and guns, watching historical documentaries, grain and livestock markets, and waiting on the rain. He was known for his standard greeting of “Hi Rich Man.”</p><p><br></p><p>Survived by his wife Cindy, two Daughters - Jody (Brad) Kerr of Scott City and Charyl (Oscar) Obregon of Garden City, Son - Tyler (Juan) Messenger of Aurora, Colorado; Mother - Wauneta Messenger and Brother - Chad (Cheryl) Messenger of Garden City, Sister - Dawnnel (Frank) Francis of Nixa, Missouri, and his four Grandchildren - Colton and Carlie Obregon both of Garden City and Marin and Statler Kerr both of Scott City.</p><p><br></p><p>The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, with Rev. Michael Hagemann officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church Endowment Fund or Kansas City Hospice House in care of Garnand Funeral Home. Friends may call from Noon to 8:00 PM Thursday with family present from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home.
