Alvin John PARKER Obituary

Alvin John Parker, “Al / Popa / Pops”

Born April 27, 1941 – Sudbury, Ontario

Died October 18, 2021 – Woodstock, Ontario

Parker, Alvin “Al” - Passed away suddenly on Monday, October 18, 2021 at the age of 80.

Beloved husband and best friend of Betty Parker (nee Walsh) of 53 years of marriage. Survived by his daughters Connie (Danny Carr) of Port Alberni, BC and Natasha (Edwin Sebel) of Woodstock, ON.  Sadly missed by his granddaughters Mikaela Sebel (Matthew) and Marissa Sebel (Liam).  Predeceased by his parents John Parker (1968) and Winnifred Kemp (1980).  Survived by his brother James Parker (Donna) of North Bay.   He will be missed by many, including Barb DiMarco (Joe) of Thorold and all his extended family in Newfoundland; Albert (Anna) Walsh, Christina (Albert) Bennett, Adrian (Margueretta) Walsh, Tony Walsh, Brian (Dale) Walsh.

Al will always be remembered for his love of family and friends as well as his zest for life.   He worked very hard and took pride in his profession as a Tool & Die Maker, with the majority taking place at Massey Ferguson, Brantford.  Al was also proud of his time serving on the HMS St Croix in the Royal Canadian Navy.

Al was known to have a joke and a smile and loved to spend his Friday nights playing Cribbage or Aggravation and his Saturday nights cheering on the Leafs!  Al was also an avid golfer and loved to reminisce about the birdies he left on the course.  He was a fantastic cheerleader for his grandchildren and just loved to be around people in general.

Al was born and raised in Sudbury, Ontario but always considered Newfoundland home.   He will be missed by so many on the Island but his memory will live on there forever.  Al was an active member of Holy Trinity Parish and was a man of strong Faith.   This Faith will now carry him Home where he will be welcomed by passed friends, where they will have a game and a Scotch ready to go and continue their friendships for eternity.

The family will welcome visitors at the SMITH-LeROY FUNERAL HOME, 69 Wellington St. N, Woodstock on Friday, October 22, 2021 from 6-8 pm. A funeral Mass will be held at Holy Trinity Parish, 1420 Devonshire Ave, Woodstock, on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 2 pm with Father Darius as celebrant.

In lieu of flowers, donations will be graciously accepted to Beginnings Pregnancy Care Centre, Woodstock.  Personal condolences may be sent at www.smithleroy.com
