Cleta Jo Carpenter

Cleta Jo (Geyer) Carpenter, 69, of Shawnee passed away at Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK surrounded by her loving family.

Cleta was born May 1, 1952 in Walters, OK to Billy Joe and Ruby Oleta (Stapp) Geyer.

She grew up in the Shawnee area. Cleta graduated from Bethel High School class of 1970 and attended Okmulgee Tech.

Cleta married her devoted husband, Doyle Ray Carpenter in Bethel Acres on July 28, 1972. Together, Cleta and Doyle fostered 35 children and had three daughters, the youngest of which they adopted through their years of servitude to the Oklahoma Baptist Children’s Home.

Cleta is a member of Blackburn Chapel Baptist Church where she enjoyed serving wherever there was a need. She enjoyed sewing and gardening but her main focus was always her family.

She is preceded in death by her father, Billy Joe Geyer; and brother, Billy Wayne Geyer.

She is survived by her husband, Doyle of 49 years; three daughters, Angela and Dennis Scarberry of Goddard, KS, Anna Belle and Robert Babcock of Tecumseh, OK and Robin and Randy Branum of McLoud, OK.; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; mother, Ruby  “Sis” McGill; 2 brothers, Eldon Geyer and Johnny Geyer and Barbara Geyer; and extended family and friends.

Visitation will be 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 20, 2021. Service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel in Tecumseh, OK . Burial will be at Blackburn Chapel Cemetery following the service under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
