Jennifer “Jen” Ann Hammett, 51, of Lenexa, KS, passed away, Oct. 15, 2021 at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission, KS. A visitation will be held 5:00 – 7:00 pm Fri., Oct. 29, 2021 at Bruce Funeral Home, 712 S. Webster, Spring Hill, KS (913) 592-2244. Memorial contributions may be made to Operation Wildlife.Condolences may be left at www.brucefuneralhome.com Jennifer was born Feb. 27, 1970 in Wichita, KS to Ross Allan and Donna Louise (Robbins) Wakefield. She grew up in Spring Hill, KS where she graduated from Spring Hill High School in 1988. Jennifer graduated from Emporia State University. She worked as a Claims Representative for Farmers Insurance in Olathe for four or five years. Jennifer married Kurt William Hammett on May 13, 2000 in Kingsville, MO. She was a member of Life Mission Church in Olathe. Jennifer was an avid birder. She was a member of the Burroughs Audubon Society, active member of Morning Glory 4H, American Business Assoc., and Kansas Ornithological Society. Jennifer supported Operation Wildlife and was a lifetime member of Beak-n-Wings. She will be missed by family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father. Jennifer is survived by her husband, Kurt, of the home; mother, Donna, Gardner, KS and brother Christopher and wife Greta Wakefield, Gardner, KS.
