Harry Alexander Gossett, 81 of St. Joseph, Michigan passed away on October 15, 2021 in the presence of his best friend of 48 years, Jim LeBlanc and love Janet Shipe. Harry was born on 12/16/39 to Harry and Iva Lois (Sistare) Gossett. Harry graduated from Western Carolina University in three years and was hired by GE Corporation. Harry spent 27 years with General Electric Capital Corporation (GECC). Starting in Charlotte, North Carolina, as a management trainee, he progressed into a number of field management positions before assuming region assignments in sales and sales management. In 1973, he joined GECC’s Corporate Education Department located at GECC’s corporate headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut. In addition to creating and delivering training and development programs corporation wide, he taught numerous courses at GE’s corporate training institute, located in Crontonville, New York. In 1980, he moved to Dallas, Texas to head up GECC’s field Human Resources Southwest Operation. While in that position, he also assumed responsibility for Education and Development for all GECC components in the Southwestern United States. Harry left GE in 1989 to join Whirlpool Financial Corporation as Vice President, Corporate Services. Harry provided leadership and direction to three creative and service oriented departments for Whirlpool Financial Corporation: Corporate Education and Quality, Corporate Communications, and Corporate Administrative Services. His input in the development of “WFC” The Service Difference” played a key role in how the company presented itself to employees and external customers. Harry was a top education, motivational speaker and corporate executive, with broad experience in field organizations, educational research and development, human resources management and communications, training and development, telemarketing , and marketing services management. A dynamic speaker and educator, Harry has trained thousands of people in numerous diverse topics, including time management, fundamentals in selling, management and supervision, professional sales techniques, and “training the trainer”. After retiring from GE and Whirlpool Financial, Harry started his own company as a professional speaker. Harry conducted seminars, workshops and Key Note presentations throughout the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. Harry was preceded in death by his second wife Martha of 49 years and brother Ron Gossett. Harry is survived by his sister, Lynda Keziah (Lynn), Charlotte, NC, daughter, Star Whittle (Steve), granddaughter Bryce (Spencer), granddaughter Ashton, Salt Lake City, Utah, son Bob (Jaimie), grandsons Brady and Grant, Denver, CO, son Jim (Casey), grandson Rhys, Austin Texas and Janet Shipe, St. Joseph, MI, his significant other and special love who he found great joy and happiness with. Harry loved life and people especially his family, sports, physical fitness, golf and was an avid fan of the Michigan State Spartans. Harry was such a positive person, always as his daughter says, “looking at every situation as the glass being half full”. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place.
