Franklin D. Summerland Lindstrom, Minnesota Obituary

Franklin D. Summerland

What a life I’ve had! The dash between those two dates is FILLED with a life well lived. I was born in St Paul. MN and moved to Cloverdale, MN as a toddler. My life on a working farm with my older brother Wally and my parents, Ing and Emilia was filled with stories and adventure. We worked hard but had time for fun and pranks that only two brothers could create. I left Cloverdale and enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. Honorably discharged in 1954. I then began my career as a bricklayer. Met and married Dianne (Hiel) Summerland on July 27th 1957. It was a painful time losing Dianne in 1996, way too soon….. We purchased our home on Big Green Lake in Chisago City, MN and raised our 3 beautiful daughters; Wendy (Tom Costello) parents, to Ryan and David, Laurie (Mike Fried); Cathy (Mike Clausen) parents of Shana and Tylor Ann. My Grandchildren, Blake and Charlotte (Shana and Scott), Indra and Oslo Franklin (Ryan and Rachel), Eudora (David and Natasha) have given me a world of love and enjoyment. More than I could have ever thought possible. Then there are the GREAT Grandchildren!!! What a wonderful thing to be able to see. My sister-in-law Linda Summerland (Wally) my nieces, nephews and their families have been an important part of my life. The friends and neighbors the countless number of get together and parties have all made my life a full one. For ALL of you, I say thanks!!! “I gotta scoot!” PS Flowers are nice, but I’d prefer you donate to a food bank, shelter, or Alzheimer Association. A visitation will be held at Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom, MN on Friday, October 22, 2021 from 5:00pm ~ 7:00pm. Condolences can be left at grandstrandfh.com.
