Adleane (Mann) Burke

Adleane Mann Burke was born to the late Jessie Scarborough Mann and Elizabeth Lizzie King Mann in Cochran, Georgia on Saturday, August 22, 1931. Ms. Lean, as she was affectionately referred to by family and friends, was raised in Cochran, Georgia along with her three sisters and four brothers. Adleane was educated in the Bleckley County school system in Cochran, Georgia. At age 21, a young Ms. Lean moved to Florida where she married and later separated from William Burke. In 1958, Lean moved to Paterson, New Jersey to start a new life, with her loving sister Jewerl Jones and their niece Josie King. Adleane was a faithful and diligent member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Paterson, New Jersey, where she was joined by her 5 children and grandchildren, until she was no longer physically able to attend. Ms. Lean was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Elizabeth, and all of her siblings. Adleane had four brothers Willie M. Mann, Jessie G. Mann, Lester Mann, and Fletcher Mann; and, three sisters Carrie Guyton, Jewerl M. Jones, and Thelma Davis. Adleane Mann Burke departed this life on Thursday, October 14, 2021. She was 90 years young. Adleane leaves to cherish her fondest memories: two sons, Barry M. Burke (Belinda) and Robbie Burke; and three daughters, Marlena Burke-Cox (Darnell), Judith Moore (Frank), and Nicole Edwards (Eric) all of Paterson, New Jersey. Adleane also leaves behind 10 grandchildren Kwasheda Avant (Verndale), Ashley Moore, Barry L. Burke, Kiara Gary (Suquan), Milira Cox, Avery Edwards, Ahtilah Burke, Colby Edwards, Amavi Burke, and Darias Burke; 10 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
