Steven “Steve” Reece, 74, of Union, formerly of New Providence, passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2021. Per the wishes of Steve and his family, cremation rites have been accorded. Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Saturday, October 23 from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. His final resting place will be the Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family or directed to the City of Union Parks and Recreation department. Born Steven Craig Reece on July 24, 1947 in Eldora, Iowa, he was the son of Lawrence “Larry” and Irene (Snovel) Reece. Following his graduation from New Providence High School, he honorably served in the Army National Guard. As a result of his union to Mary Ann Pevehouse, Steve was blessed with two children. Hardworking and dedicated, he drove a dump truck for Construct Inc. in Marshalltown for over 25 years before his retirement. Steve was a quiet and simple man who had a quiet way of taking care of people. He loved a good sit under a shade tree in his lawn chair and a fresh perm. He also enjoyed going to Ginger Snap for a coffee, walking and mowing his yard. Left to cherish his memory are his two children: Andrea (Justin) Thibodeau of Monroe Center, Illinois and Todd (Sara) Reece of State Center; five grandchildren: Bryce, Jadyn, Dakota, Maverick and Branch; mother of his children, Mary Ann Reece; his siblings: Kent (Tracy) Reinert and Kurt (Connie) Reinert; brother-in-law, Larry Lubbert; sister-in-law, Carlene Reece and many other family and friends. Steve is preceded in death by his father, Larry Reece; his mother and stepfather, Irene and Wally Reinert; his sister, Val Lubbert and his brother, Larry Reece and niece Kim Reece.
