Willie George

Willie D. George, 73, of Marshalltown, passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2021. Per the wishes of Willie and his family, cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of life will take place on Friday, October 22 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the family. Born August 8, 1948 in Shreveport, Louisiana, he was the son of Willie and Virda (Alexander) George. He was blessed with three children from his union to Debra C. Brown. Hardworking, Willie dedicated many years as a maintenance worker for the city government. He also coached Marshalltown Football League (MFL) football and was a member of the MFL board. Willie was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys fan, enjoyed watching NASCAR and loved anything sports related. He took pride in ownership of numerous vehicles, including many Cadillacs over the years. Willie also loved blues and soul music.   Willie is survived by his children: Stacey Hopkins, Micheal S. George and Todd C. George; his companion of 11 years, Renee Rollins; mother of his children, Debra Grundy; his grandchildren: Jade Offerman, Taylen Spree, Isaiah George, Raya George and Kaliyah George and his two sisters: Vergie and Patricia. He is preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Virda; his brothers: Arthur and Robert; two sisters: Percy and Gene; grandsons: Lauren and Grant and granddaughter, Candice.
