Tom S. Barthelmeh went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, October 12.

He was born in Denver to parents Thomas C. Barthelmeh and Loveda Ann Lark in 1960. His childhood was spent in Colorado, New Mexico, Missouri and Minnesota before the family moved to Montana in 1974.  Tom graduated from High School at Richey, MT in 1979 where he participated in football, track and chior.

Tom had a gift for all things mechanical. He could tell how many cylinders a vehicle had just by listening to it drive by. While attending Northern Montana College to study diesel and automotive technology he met Wendy Arthur. They were married on Spring Break in 1983 and moved to Helena the following year. Tom enjoyed being outdoors, camping, fishing, hunting and going for adventurous drives to explore unfamiliar trails.

Tom moved to Great Falls in 1995. For many years he has been the transfer site caretaker at Vaughn. He valued his friends and neighbors, recognizing most of them by the vehicles they drove. He was always glad to swap stories, offer some encouragement or lend a hand when he could. He found it gratifying whenever he could fix something broken to make it useful again. It was his way of being salt and light to the people around him.

Tom is survived by his wife and children and their families. He was very proud of them all and prayed for each of them every evening. Brenda (Jason) Carwile of Ukarumpa, PNG, Jacob (Hesti) Barthelmeh of Belgrade and Daniel (Tracy) Barthelmeh of Missoula. His seven little grandchildren were his joy. Also his sister Loveda (Chuck) Sawyer of Miles City and nephews.

Due to covid concerns a private, family funeral will be held at the graveside. We know Tom's many friends will be with us in spirit and hope that they remember him by showing compassion and sharing God's love.
