Donald William Pollock Obituary

There once was a man named Don Whose blue eyes sparkled and shone His humour and wit And smile that won’t quit Stay with us now that he’s gone Don Pollock March 29, 1931-October 11, 2021 It is with a heavy heart that we announce the sudden passing of Don Pollock, Monday, October 11, just before midnight, at the emergency room at the Welland Hospital, succumbing to his Pulmonary Fibrosis. A lover of language, jokes, puns, puzzles, rocks, golf, major league sports, and all things social Don Pollock was a million-dollar gem loved by all who knew him. Born in 1931 to Frances (McFeat) and Robert Pollock, Don spent his childhood, youth, and university years in Montreal and at McGill he met and married the love of his life Janet (Preston). Married for over 65 years they had four children and they travelled North America with his wonderful and memorable career as a Dr of Geology…professor and then successful economic geologist making lifelong friends wherever they went: Montreal, Arkansa, Quebec City, Houghton Michigan, Calgary, Wolfville, with retirement in St. Augustine, Iroquois and Port Colbourne. Don was often the life of the party with a cheery “Hellooo” and a big smile. He was a super hugger and a great conversationalist, listener and also easy quiet companion. He loved a game of anything …especially when pennies or chocolate bars were in the offing!! Don was predeceased by his son Rob (Pam) and survived by his wife Janet, and their children Brian (Darlene), Kathy (Bill), Beth (Colin); his sister Trixie Burke; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and so many new and lifelong friends who will miss him. Cremation has taken place and there will be a celebration of life at a later date.
