David A. Johns Obituary

David Allen Johns, 89, of Nutter Fort, WV, passed away on Friday, October 15, 2021 at Stonerise of Clarksburg. He was born in Clarksburg on August 13, 1932, a son of the late Ewart E. and Carrie E. (Woodford) Johns.

David is survived by his nieces and nephews whom he considered like his own children: Rebecca A. Peiffley (Robert) of Clarksburg, Debra Ann Gombarcik (Dale) of Quiet Dell, and Relph E. Johns Jr. (Cindy) of Quiet Dell; great-nieces and nephews: Ed Randolph Jr. (Stacey) of Bridgeport, Bobby Peiffley (fiancée Bre Oliver) of San Antonio, TX, Wendy Cox (Ricky) of Clarksburg, Michael Peiffley (Teth) of Clarksburg, Scott Randolph (Hannah) of Dayton, OH, and Kristin Peiffley (Fiancee JR Anderson) of Bridgeport. David was also a resident of Stonerise for many years and developed many friendships there over the years and was dearly loved by the staff.

In addition to his parents David was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Ralph E. Johns Sr. and wife Margaret.

David was a graduate of Roosevelt-Wilson High School and Baptist by faith. He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force during the Korean War era stationed in Alaska and was very proud of his service and his country. He later worked as a glassworker for Hazel Atlas for many years. He was an avid football fan, especially the Dallas Cowboys and WVU. David enjoyed collecting hats, clocks, and watches. While he was a very quiet person that kept to himself most of the time, he enjoyed his many nieces and nephews, and especially their family dinners over the years.

Private interment will be held at the Elkview Cemetery and a Memorial Celebration will be held for everyone at a later date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations should be made in David’s memory to the Disabled American Veterans via www.dav.org or mail to PO Box 14301 Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
