Frank J. Schoellkopf, 98 years old, of Hamilton, NJ, passed away peacefully at his home, with family by his side, on Thursday, October 14, 2021. A life-long resident of Trenton, NJ, Frank was born in Trenton, the only son of George and Katherine (Rath) Schoellkopf. An honored and decorated World War II veteran, Frank was enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving his country in battle on the African coast, the European fronts and in the Normandy Beach Invasion. Frank retired from a career with the NJ Department of Transportation where he had worked as an automotive mechanic. Frank was very proud of his German heritage and was a member of the German American Club, the German American Society and the Trenton Donauschwaben Club. He enjoyed fishing, traveling to German festivals and taking his wife and family to the Jersey shore and on camping trips. Frank was musically talented, having been a violinist before taking up the harmonica. He had a fantastic memory and could recall lyrics of songs, prayers and poems with ease. Frank was also a proficient carpenter, painter and handyman who took great pride in caring for his home. He mastered every project he undertook. He never took shortcuts so any work he did was meant to last. Frank took very good care of his family and provided well for them. He never tired of giving a helping hand to whoever needed it. Predeceased by his parents, George and Katherine (Rath) Schoellkopf; his wife, Regina (Waropay) Schoellkopf; his two sisters, Mary Reiter and Lena Campbell; his nieces, Mary Kathlyn Urion and Mary Magdalyn Cooper; and his nephews, Stephan Baylor and Leonard Reiter; he is survived by his five children: his daughter, Rosemary Schoellkopf of Robbinsville and his four sons, Frank G. Schoellkopf and wife, Elizabeth (Partyka), of Lawrenceville, Carl and Eric Schoellkopf both of Hamilton, and Michael Schoellkopf and wife, Barbara (Fitzgerald), of Sacramento CA; his niece, Carolyn (Campbell) Chandrasekar; his nephew, Lawrence Campbell; and his many great and great-great nieces and nephews. All services for Frank will be held privately. There will be no public calling hours. In lieu of flowers, Frank’s children have asked that a tree be planted in Frank J. Schoellkopf’s, name.
