<p><span style="font-size: 18px;"><i>Funeral Recording</i></span></p><iframe style="border:none;width:230px;height:80px;" src="https://audio.funeralrecording.com/embed/b585e052-3118-11ec-87c6-16405424cb33"></iframe> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="font-size:18px;">Marilyn Newell Hicks our loving mother, grandmother and friend passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday October 14, 2021 in Holladay, Utah.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:18px;">She was born in Price, Utah at home on a cold snowy winter day, January 4, 1932 to Clark Buckley Newell and Melba Almeda Christensen Newell.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:18px;">Married Arthur James Hicks, Jr. on March 23, 1951 in the Salt Lake Temple, Salt Lake City, Utah.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:18px;">Lovingly known as Mini she lived a full life spent wearing herself out in the service of others. She consciously chose to develop her talents and to face head on the difficulties of life. A lifelong learner she graduated from the University of Utah at age 63. Mini excelled in art, most notably oriental ink painting. She was a fantastic mother, the most devoted grandmother, a published poet, and a motivating teacher. Mini had an extraordinary ability to love and lift others. She leaves behind a legacy of love and service. Many of all ages have been blessed by her love and influence. A multitude of all generations call her &ldquo;friend&rdquo; and bless her name.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:18px;">Survived by sons James Hicks and Paul Hicks (Karen), Grandchildren Aubrie Hicks (Eric), David Hicks (Paige) Karli Bennett (Tristan), Holly Hicks, Rachel Hicks, and Edward Hicks, Great Grandchildren Lily Hicks and Levi Hicks, Sisters Barbara Crawley and Elaine Jones, Brother Buck Newell.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:18px;">Preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister Nancy Norris.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:18px;">Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday October 19, 2021 at the Holladay 8th ward chapel, 5450 South Holladay Blvd., Holladay, Utah. Viewings will be held at the Cannon Mortuary Monday Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and the day of the service from 10:00 to 10:30 am at the chapel.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:18px;">Interment at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Salt Lake City, Utah</span></p>

Marilyn Newell Hicks our loving mother, grandmother and friend passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday October 14, 2021 in Holladay, Utah.
