Hugh Philias Witney

<p>The family of Hugh Witney are deeply saddened to announce his passing at the Athabasca Healthcare Centre on October 9th, 2021 at the age of 87.&nbsp; Hugh was born and raised and remained on his family&rsquo;s homestead in Donatville.</p> <p>Hugh is survived by his beloved partner: Sharon Grimard; his sons: Marty (Carmen) Witney, Larry (Leanne) Nadeau, Wayne Nadeau (Lori Zallas); extended family: Maurice (Lana) Grimard and Nicole (Peter) Gilbertson; grandchildren: Martine (Derek) Botten, Schuyler Witney, Kimberly (Donny) Romanyshyn, Kevin Witney, Andrea Hunter; step- grandchildren: Dan and Jared Pawlowski; extended family: Austin, Marshall and Wiley; great-grandchildren: Carter Romanyshyn, Luke Romanyshyn, Kendall Romanyshyn, Ava Johnson, and Milo Matice.</p> <p>Hugh was predeceased by his beloved wife: Olive; his mother: Anna; his father: Harry, his brother Jack; his sister Nora; son: Randy; and grandson: Aaron.</p> <p>A Celebration of Life for Hugh will be held next summer, as per his wishes.&nbsp;</p> <p>In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to STARS.</p> <p>Hugh will always be remembered for his kindness, thoughtfulness, and his love towards others. We will miss him deeply, as well as his beautiful Christmas light display along Highway 63.</p>

After a long car ride in the winter I would see your Christmas Display and know I was almost home. It always put a smile on a weary travelers face. Thank you for being a bright light of this community. My deepest sympathies to the family.

My condolences to the entire Whitney family. Hugh was a pillar of the community loving his family, neighbors and friends. His famous tripod grills he made is my special memory of him. I am very sorry for your loss.
