Mary Elizabeth Mansfield
<p>Mary Elizabeth (Smith) Mansfield, 90, peacefully passed away on October 13, 2021 of natural causes. </p> <p>MaryBeth was born at home in Dillon, MT on May 20, 1931; she was the only child of Luther S. and Jessie M. (Williams) Smith. She attended Dillon public schools and was the Valedictorian of Beaverhead County High School Class of 1947. She went on to attend the Columbus School of Nursing in Great Falls, graduating in 1951. She later earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the College of Great Falls. Her nursing career took her to many places before she returned home. She worked various nursing jobs in Great Falls, including Columbus Hospital, McCauley’s Nursing Home & Park Place Nursing Home as well as teaching Nursing before retiring in 1994. </p> <p>Mary Beth married Richard E. (Dick) Mansfield on October 21,1956 in Dillon, MT. The young couple made their home in Great Falls and had four daughters. Mary Beth was their Girl Scout Leader, swimming supporter & running partner, music instructor & an all-encompassing Mom. She was a member of the Great Falls First Presbyterian Church for 65 years. </p> <p>Mary Beth was preceded in death by her parents, husband & grandsons Donny & Elliot Patete. </p> <p>She is survived by her daughters Betty Patete of Philadelphia, PA, Ruth (Tom) Hlavnicka of Hoonah, AK, Jean Mansfield of Great Falls and Lois (Jon) Tromblay of Newberg, OR; grandchildren Tara Hlavnicka, twins Valerie Patete & Emily Patete (Stephen) Lovejoy, Karleen Tromblay & Kylen Tromblay (Joel) Johnson; great grandchildren Ryan & Giovanni Patete, Mackenzie Burnaby, Ashlynn Gasvoda & Aryiah Newell. </p>Obituary
