William Bruce Montgomery Obituary

William Bruce "Sonny" Montgomery Jr was affectionately known only as “Boy” in a house full of girls, a tribute to his absolutely boy-like personality- he was always the ultimate boy. Then his next ten years he was “Sonny Boy” as an accolade to our Papa Sonny. He finally came into himself and became widely known, and loved so fiercely as simply “Sonny.” The only exclusions to that was the love of his life and his children. For her he was “Sonny Bunny,” and as for the three children that completed them; he was “Dad.”

In 1999 Sonny met his perfect match.  No one had ever been able to rival Sonny's tricks and pranks but Ashley with her angelic smile and mischievous eyes was the consummate partner for him and together they joyously tortured us all.  It wasn't long before they began adding to their family and what additions they are.  Dakota and Austin, like their father, are boys anyone would be proud to know and love and are now well on their way to being men.  Cheyenne, a beautiful blessing to her parents, has a great big heart and so much sweetness, but just like her daddy she has a generous dose of orneriness as do her brothers.

Sonny’s passion was spending time with his wife and children camping at the lake and taking summer vacations to the beach. He loved to hunt, fish, and look for mushrooms and could always fry up a great mess of fish for all to enjoy!

He was born on January 28, 1982 to Bill and Sherry Montgomery. Sonny grew up in Kellyville and was a lifelong resident of Creek County Oklahoma. He worked in the oilfield services industry and works for ME 3 Oilfield Services Company. On Thursday, October 14, 2021, the world suffered a huge loss. Sonny departed from this life at the age of 39, unexpectedly at his home.

Sonny was preceded in death by his sister Danyelle Spicer, his Uncles Rusty and Shane Romine, his Papa Sonny, his cousins Charla Atchley, Shannon Romine and his grandparents Phyllis and Norman Montgomery.

He is survived by his wife, Ashley, and their 3 kids, Dakota, Austin, and Cheyenne. His parents, William Sr. and Sherry Montgomery. His siblings, Trevor Lackey, LaDawn Sams, Paula Montgomery, Risa Montgomery, Jessica Montgomery, Levi Montgomery (Brittney). As well as numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.

Services are set for October 19, 2021, and will take place at Olive Baptist Church beginning with visitation 11:00 a.m.- 1:30 p.m.  The funeral service is at 2:00 p.m. and will be officiated by Mark Jackson and George Brock. Internment will immediately follow at Sunrise Cemetery in Kellyville, Oklahoma.  Pallbearers are Dakota Montgomery, Austin Montgomery, Levi Montgomery, Sawyer Romine, Tyler Romine, Bruce Spicer, James Spicer, and Billy McLaughlin.
