MCFARLAND - Laurence James Temby, age 76, of McFarland, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021, at St. Mary's Hospital. He was born on Aug. 22, 1945, in Madison, the son of Donald and Grace (Erdahl) Temby. Laurence graduated from Middleton High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.


Laurence worked as a Lab Manager for Davis Duehr Dean, and then at Oroscoptic, retiring in 2012. He enjoyed collecting and working on cars and was a member of the A-One Autoworks Social Club. He was an artist, a history buff, and enjoyed music and watching the birds. He enjoyed watching UW hockey and volleyball games. His circle of friends was larger than he ever knew.


Laurence is survived by his significant other, Karen Mayerl; sons, Bleach Temby and Graham (Sara) Temby; granddaughter, Hayden; step-sons, Brian (Dana) Jansen and Devin (Jeni) Jansen; step-daughter, Greta (Reggie Costict) Jansen; nine step-grandchildren, Jessica, Lorena, Samantha, MollyJo, Brian, Emaleigh, Nevaeh, Meryl, and Henry; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Connor Grayson Temby; brother, Donald Temby; and sister, Marie Dahl.


We have lost a true honest good man. He will be missed immensely by all who knew him.


A celebration of life will be held at a later date.


In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to a veterans organization or charity of your choice.
