Lee C. Bollinger Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that our family announces the passing of our beloved Father, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa and Uncle at the age of 96. Lee was born and raised in Santa Rosa, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Sue Bollinger, brother Fred Bollinger, and also the love of his life Patricia Mary Bollinger, wife of 66 years, and sons, Mark Bollinger and Jeff Bollinger. Loving father of Lee Bollinger and wife Jean of New York, Brad Bollinger and wife Corine, Tami Bollinger-Edwards and husband Scott, Jayme Bollinger and wife Nancy, all of Santa Rosa. He was a loving grandpa to Lee Bollinger and wife Jen, Carey Bollinger-Danielson and husband Ben, Jacob Bollinger and wife Vivienne, James Edwards, Tyler Bollinger and Chris Edwards and wife Megan. Lee was especially fond of his 10 great-grandchildren Katelyn Bollinger, Cooper Bollinger-Danielson, Sawyer Bollinger-Danielson, Colin Bollinger, Bryden Edwards, Emma Bollinger-Danielson, Ashlynn Edwards, Genevieve Bollinger, Josephine Bollinger and Parker Edwards. Lee was a career newspaperman of 53 years starting as a paperboy and proofreader at the Press Democrat, eventually being named editor and publisher of the Baker Democrat Herald in Oregon under then Press Democrat Publisher Evert Person. He returned to the Press Democrat in 1968 to become classified advertising manager, retiring in 1992. Immediately after graduating from Santa Rosa High School, he served his country in World War II in the United States Marine Corps from 1943 to 1945, serving as a belly gunner in the TBM Avenger torpedo bomber. In 1983, he received one of the highest advertising industry honors as president of the international Association of Newspaper Classified Advertising Managers with over 760 members from across the globe. Lee was a man of honor. He taught us all compassion, strong morals and work ethic. He was respected by his peers. He will be dearly missed. The family wishes to extend its sincere gratitude to the healthcare professionals at Spring Lake Village Skilled Nursing, Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital and Providence St. Joseph Health Hospice and other professionals in the Santa Rosa community who treated and nursed our father with the compassion that allowed for his final days to be of quality, dignity and peace. Services will be private.
