Manuel J. Knox was born and raised April 29, 1925, in Yonkers, New York. He was raised by his mother the late Ms. Edith Hatfield. Brothers: Frank (deceased), Clifford (deceased), Clarence (deceased) and Elmer (deceased). On July 15, 1943, Manny was drafted in the U.S. Navy. A three-war veteran, he served during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. He served as a Hospital Corpsman in the U.S. Navy retiring at the rank of Petty Officer First Class in January 1968. As a Hospital Corpsman specializing in Radiology, he received his associate degree in Radiology in the late 1940’s at Manhattan College. Upon his discharge from the military, Manny continued his career as a Radiology Technician within the Delaware Valley area until he retired in 1990. He also taught Radiology and was a Chief X-ray Technician at several hospitals in the New Jersey area. On October 22nd, 1967, Manny married the love of his life, Madge (Bunny) Knox. From this union he raised three children (Johnny, Belinda, and Daniel) and his grandson (Jonathan). From previous unions one daughter (Marilyn Harding) and one son (Robert Knox). Manny accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He deeply cherished his church home and was a faithful, devoted, and active member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Willingboro, NJ. He was an avid bowler, loved shooting pool, dancing, and playing cards. He was a very passionate Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Phillies, and Philadelphia 76ers fan. Spending time with family and friends was the joy of his life. He was a member of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge Free and Excepted Masons of NJ, Hiram Lodge #5 Lawnside NJ (Past Master), Zamora Temple #73 Camden NJ (Past Potentate), and DeHugo Consistory #2 Camden NJ (Past Commander and Chief and 33rd degree Mason). Manny was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Willingboro NJ and Disabled American Veterans (DAV) in Westampton NJ. Leaving to cherish his memory are his children: Marilyn Harding, Robert Knox, Johnny Hovington (Tina), Belinda Smith (Warren - deceased), Daniel Whalen (Ruth). In-laws: Carol Dennis (Sam), Ronnie Hovington (Jane) and Mabel Warren (Gary). He also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
