Gale L. Minton Obituary

Gale Laverne Minton, 72, died on October 7, 2021 at home surrounded by loved ones, in Seguin, Texas. Gale was born to Arthur and Mildred Schreiber in Brownsville, Texas on July 21, 1949. Gale was one of two daughters and one brother. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years Greg Minton of Seguin, Texas; sister, Terry Dinwiddie and William T. Dinwiddie of Houston, Texas; brother, Raymond Schreiber of Flower Mound, Texas. Gale was the mother of two children; son, Gregory L. Minton and wife Michelle Minton of Round Rock, Texas, and daughter Jessica Kalstad and husband Kristofer W. Kalstad of Arlington, Virginia. Gale would talk daily of her pride and joy of her life which were her grandchildren; Madison Minton, Mason Minton, and Kassidy Kalstad.

Originally from Brownsville, Gale graduated from Galveston College with her Nursing Degree in 1969. She began working for the San Antonio Public Health Department until she graduated with her Master’s in Education on December 20, 1991. She followed her passion of teaching by leading the Health Occupations program in several high schools in the San Antonio Independent School District. Over the years, Gale educated and trained hundreds of high school students that obtained their Nursing Assistance Certification. Several of these students went on to become Registered Nurses, Physicians, Radiologists, Health Technicians, First Responders, and Humanitarian Workers. Gale retired from San Antonio Independent School District in 2011 and continued her passion for education by teaching with the American Heart Association. Over the last 10 years, Gale taught lifesaving CPR and First Aid to thousands of people in the service industries across Texas.

Gale was a dedicated parishioner of St. James Catholic Church in Seguin for over 30 years. Her passion was service work through the church which included Nursing Home Visitation, CPR training, and volunteer work. Gale and her husband enjoyed traveling in their camper to visit family and make memories with friends, especially, with the infamous  "Group Therapy", which included friends from over 50 years ago.

Many thanks to all for your prayers, cards, visits, and phone calls to the family during this time.
