Clara Chavez Gonzalez, 85, of San Benito passed away on Tuesday October 12, 2021. Clara Gonzalez was a business woman the majority of her working career. She owned a carpet business in San Benito, Texas and a glass company in Harlingen, Texas. She always made sure that her clients were completely satisfied with the merchandise and service. Before becoming a successful business woman, she was a supervisor at the San Benito Levi Straus Plant. She trained workers using the assembly line to produce the demanding daily quotas. Her passion was to contribute to the community by providing services that were needed. She is preceded in death by her daughter: Sylvia Garza, former husband: Israel Gonzalez, sister: Nativida Chavez, brother: Hilario Chavez, and sister: Lucia Robles. Left to cherish her memory are her son: Joe (Yolanda) Gonzalez, siblings: Angelita “Angie” Gonzales, Raymundo “Ray” Chavez, Guadalupe “Lupe” Silva, grandchildren: Jason Gonzales, Patricia Cazares, Lori Ann Garza Ponce, Cassandra Sanchez, Joseph Cazares, Loren Cazares, Joaquin Cazares, and Tobin Ponce. Visitation will be held Monday October 18, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. A Chapel Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home with interment to follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park. All individuals are encouraged to follow CDC guidelines by socially distancing a minimum space of 6 feet apart and must wear face covers or masks. (May include bandanas or sewn or cloth face coverings).
