<p>Visitations for Dale Marshall Garrett will be Saturday, October 16th at 5pm to 7pm at Sycamore Church of Christ in Cookeville, and Sunday October 17th at 1pm followed by a funeral service at 2pm also at Sycamore Church of Christ.</p><p><br></p><p>Dale Garrett was born in Nashville, TN on April 19th, 1940, He lived in the Nashville and Madison areas until 2003 when he retired and moved to Baxter, TN. He attended 12th Avenue Church of Christ in Nashville and then Madison Church of Christ where he served as a deacon for many years and served as a committee member and chairman of the MIssionary Ministry working closely with the minister in Scotland and other areas. He was a member of Sycamore Church of Christ in Cookeville, TN, serving as an elder with special work with the Widows Ministry, Benevolence Ministry, World Bible School, and (SOC) Servants of Christ College Ministry.</p><p>Dale was known for his strong prayer life. He prayed by name for approximately 200 people every day. He was a frugal shopper; items must be on sale or bought with a coupon. He prided himself as a coupon king. A successful financial planner, he tried to help others with their finances,</p><p> He was a hard worker in all his career choices, working for Newspaper Printing Corporation, Cooper and Martin Grocery, Blair Follin Allen and Walker insurance Co., Partner with Garrett and Street Insurance Associates, Nashville Memorial Hospital and American Heritage Life Insurance,</p><p> Dale loved to travel and had visited many countries and all 50 states. He was an outstanding basketball, softball, racquetball, bridge, and card player, He also enjoyed doing puzzles. He was a fan of UT and Peyton Manning, He graduated from Hume-Fogg Technical School in 1958. Dale was president of his class and active with the alumni.</p><p> He was honored by the title of Papa Dale, but most of all he was known as a kind, loving Christian.</p><p><br></p><p>Dale is survived by:</p><p>Loving wife of 18 years June Herron-Garrett</p><p><br></p><p>Children</p><p>Daughter Jacqueline Garrett-Moreland of Nashville.</p><p><br></p><p>Sons Dale Marshall Garrett Jr (Shannon) of Chapmansboro, TN.</p><p>Donald Glenn Garrett (Kristine) of Ashland City.</p><p><br></p><p>Grandchildren Jay Dale Moreland (Lindsey) of Nashville, Kelsey Marie Moreland-Plattenburg (Chris) of Nashville, Katelyn Garrett-Wallace (Nathan) of Clarksville, and Savannah Garrett-Peterson (Ethan) Goldsboro, NC.</p><p><br></p><p>Sisters Sandra Garrett-Walker of Nashville and Judy Garrett of Kingwood, TX.</p><p><br></p><p>He is preceded in death by his parents John Garrett and Murdice Donnell-Garrett, Brother Glenn Garrett, Emma Marie Garrett (First Wife of 41 years).</p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sycamore Church of the College Ministry (SOC), or Double springs Cemetery.</p>
