<p>Gary Lee Smith of Steelville, MO, was born on Tuesday, January 25, 1966 in St. Louis, MO to Harold &ldquo;Smitty&rdquo; Junior Smith and Jacquelene &quot;Tootie&quot; Livesay Smith.&nbsp; He passed away at Barnes Jewish Hospital on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at the age of 55 years, 8 months and 19 days.</p> <p>Gary was a lifelong resident of Steelville, MO and graduated in the class of 1984 from Steelville High School.&nbsp; He attended Vo-Tech of Rolla, MO where he received his machinist certification.&nbsp; He worked for Don Treece, Carden Machine Shop, and Wolferts.&nbsp; He later worked as an EMT in the Steelville and Cuba area.&nbsp; Gary accepted the Lord as his personal savior.&nbsp; He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting,&nbsp;especially fishing.&nbsp; Gary also enjoyed NASCAR and working on cars.&nbsp; He had a humor that was&nbsp; all his own (If you knew him, you would understand),&nbsp; He&nbsp;was a keeper of secrets for many, especially his little brother, Larry.&nbsp; Gary&#39;s greatest&nbsp;accomplishment was his daughter,&nbsp;Brittany.&nbsp;&nbsp;Most of all Gary loved his family and friends.&nbsp;</p> <p>He was preceded in death by his parents Harold &ldquo;Smitty&rdquo; and Jacquelene &ldquo;Tootie&rdquo; Smith; grandparents Harold and Clara Smith and Ralph and Florentine Livesay; brother Jim &ldquo;Smitty&rdquo; Smith.</p> <p>Gary is survived by his&nbsp; daughter, Brittany Nicole Smith; brother, Larry Smith and sister, Cynthia &ldquo;Cindy&quot; (Randy) both of Steelville, MO; nephew, Thomas (Cara) Lewis of St. James, MO; niece, Randi Jean Lewis &nbsp;(boyfriend Joe Paintner) of Steelville, MO; great niece, Olivia Lewis and great nephew, Jesse Lewis; special friends Hal Grubaugh of Steelville, MO and Nick Warren of TX; &nbsp;cousins and friends.</p> <p>Visitation&nbsp;was from 5:00 PM &ndash; 7:00 PM on Monday, October 25, 2021 at Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.&nbsp; Celebration of Life&nbsp; immediately followed with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating.&nbsp; The family chose cremation as his final disposition. &nbsp;</p> <p>Arrangements under the direction of Hutson Funeral Home Steelville, MO.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>

Gary Lee Smith of Steelville, MO, was born on Tuesday, January 25, 1966 in St. Louis, MO to Harold “Smitty” Junior Smith and Jacquelene "Tootie" Livesay Smith.  He passed away at Barnes Jewish Hospital on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at the age of 55 years, 8 months and 19 days.

Gary was a lifelong resident of Steelville, MO and graduated in the class of 1984 from Steelville High School.  He attended Vo-Tech of Rolla, MO where he received his machinist certification.  He worked for Don Treece, Carden Machine Shop, and Wolferts.  He later worked as an EMT in the Steelville and Cuba area.  Gary accepted the Lord as his personal savior.  He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, especially fishing.  Gary also enjoyed NASCAR and working on cars.  He had a humor that was  all his own (If you knew him, you would understand),  He was a keeper of secrets for many, especially his little brother, Larry.  Gary's greatest accomplishment was his daughter, Brittany.  Most of all Gary loved his family and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Harold “Smitty” and Jacquelene “Tootie” Smith; grandparents Harold and Clara Smith and Ralph and Florentine Livesay; brother Jim “Smitty” Smith.

Gary is survived by his  daughter, Brittany Nicole Smith; brother, Larry Smith and sister, Cynthia “Cindy" (Randy) both of Steelville, MO; nephew, Thomas (Cara) Lewis of St. James, MO; niece, Randi Jean Lewis  (boyfriend Joe Paintner) of Steelville, MO; great niece, Olivia Lewis and great nephew, Jesse Lewis; special friends Hal Grubaugh of Steelville, MO and Nick Warren of TX;  cousins and friends.

Visitation was from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Monday, October 25, 2021 at Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.  Celebration of Life  immediately followed with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating.  The family chose cremation as his final disposition.
