Obituary

Roburta Elane Herzog, devoted & loving wife, mother and grandmother, departed this earth on October 9, 2021 at the age of 84, after a courageous and hard-fought battle against a devastating disease.

Roburta was born in Longmont, Colorado in 1937 to Irma and Ronald Brodie.  Except for a short time in California during WWII, the family resided in Estes Park where she met her best friend and soulmate, C. William “Bill” Herzog when they were both in elementary school.  She graduated from Estes Park High School and earned her BA in Elementary Education at the University of Colorado, Boulder.  Though she never taught school, she helped support Bill through CU Law School by making jewelry that was sold in his family’s gift shop and later kept books for small businesses.  They wed in Boulder in 1959 and resided in Fort Collins since 1965.

Like the rest of her family, Roburta was an avid bowler. She was also an expert at cross-stitch and a true competitor at bridge, tennis and golf.  Other favorites were book clubs, dinner dates and parties with dear friends.  She loved vacations to warm, far away destinations like Hawaii, Australia, the Caribbean and the British Isles (including her family’s homeland of Scotland).

Roburta is survived by her loving husband Bill; daughters Kelly (Dave) Fochtman of Arvada and Teresa  Novacek of Windsor; grandchildren Kayla Fochtman of Lakewood, Niki Fochtman of Beaverton OR, Nicholas Walts of Brooklyn NY and Hayley Novacek of Commerce City; sister-in-law Dianne (Jim) Sanford of Loveland; niece and nephews Tammy McNitt of Westminster, Brett (Leisa) Brough of Tulsa, OK and Mike (Audrey) Seybold of Broomfield.  She was preceded in death by her parents, sister and brother-in-law Betty and Gene Brough, brother-in-law Jim Seybold and niece Marci Seybold.

A memorial service will be held on October 25th at 1:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church in Fort Collins.  To honor her warm and caring spirit the family requests bright and cheerful attire.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Larimer County, Dementia Together of Windsor (www.dementiatogether.org or 1540 Main St., Ste 218/231, Windsor, CO 80550), or Hearts and Horses of Loveland.
