Frances Ruth Sales, “Ruthie” or “Ruthie Puthie,” passed away peacefully on October 12, 2021.

Ruthie had a personality larger than life. She couldn’t go anywhere without making a friend. At
15 she began working at the family Arby’s where she developed a strong work ethic. She
always said she “had Arby’s sauce running through her veins.” She spent her adult career as a
teacher and librarian and was an incredibly gifted storyteller. Nobody could make you laugh as
much as Ruthie. Her joy for life was infectious. She loved a good adventure and was always up
for anything. She had a passion for theater and spent a lot of time putting on plays with her
students, listening to broadway music, and rooting for her daughter performing on stage. She
loved her family, friends, and students deeply. Ruthie was truly one of a kind and loved by so
many. 5 kisses, Ruthie.

Ruthie was preceded in death by her loving parents, Boone and Dorothy Sales. She is survived
by her daughter, Dorothy Sales (Shane), her brother, Bobby Sales, her bonus daughters, Sarah
Robinson (David), Melody Drexler (Chris), and Emily Newton (Daniel), and 2 beautiful
grandchildren. Services will be hold at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd., on Friday, October 22, 2021, from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in her memory to Hildegard House 114 Adams St., Louisville, KY 40206, (https://hildegardhouse.org/.)
