Deborah J. Licini Obituary

Deborah J. Licini, 73, of Granger, IN passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka.  She was born October 8, 1948 in South Bend to the Louis and Myra (Hodgins) Walz.  On October 31, 1984 in Marco Island, FL, Debbie married Richard A. Licini, who survives.

In addition to her loving husband of nearly 37 years, Debbie is survived by her daughters, Melissa (Joe) Moody of St. Joseph, MI, Katie Licini of Granger, IN, and Kelly (Colin) Moore of Indianapolis, IN; sons, Rich (Natalie) Licini of Fishers, IN, David (Alison) Licini of Bloomington, IN, and Luke Licini of Granger, IN; eight grandchildren, Jack, Mack, Landon, Amelia, Charlotte, Beatrice, Lincoln and Luna; and brother, Greg (Phyllis) Walz of Goshen, IN.  She is preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Paul Flowers; and sister, Jeanne Zamora.

Debbie was an English teacher in Nappanee before staying home to care for her children.  She was a loving wife and mother who always put her family first.  Debbie enjoyed going to the theater for plays and ballets, and was a South Bend Civic Theater Patron.  She was a proud breast cancer survivor for nearly seven years.  In her free time, she enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, antiquing, travelling, taking pictures, and was a Jeopardy aficionado.  Debbie was the former president of the AAUW and volunteered at the Dismas House.

A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, October 21, 2021  from 2-4 PM at Palmer Funeral Homes-Welsheimer North Chapel, 17033 Cleveland Rd., South Bend, IN 46635, with a memorial service beginning at 4 PM.

Contributions in memory of Debbie may be given to the Pink Ribbon Society, 303 E 89th Ave, Merrillville, IN 46410.
