Janice L. Hagan Obituary

Janice Lavonne (Younts) Hagan, age 73, of Ames and formerly of Edmond, OK, passed away among family and friends on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, IA. Janice was born March 20, 1948, the first day of spring, and what a fitting date to celebrate her life every year! She loved Jesus first, people second and giving gifts to show that love. Her accolades could fill a book but her greatest achievement was loving others as she had been loved by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She is survived by her two daughters (LeeAnn Randall and Sarah Shands), sons-in-love (Barrett Randall and Jeff Shands), and beloved grandchildren (Elliott Randall, Preston Shands, Abigail Randall, Emily Shands, Samuel Randall and Callie Shands) who affectionately called her Lotti, which means “I love you.” She is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Billie Younts, her sister Brenda Phillips and brother Rusty Younts. While she was married, she served alongside her husband in the Southern Baptist ministry and she worked in healthcare for over 2 decades, befriending all those she encountered. Janice took great pride in working for Dr. Tom Coburn and James Lankford, state senators from Oklahoma. She had strong convictions of standing up for what is right but never at the expense of putting down others. She loved animals, going to the beach, reading, shopping, eating out and going to the movies. She never met a stranger and was a prayer warrior, seeking guidance and wisdom from God to help her navigate life and relationships. Her memory was legendary, allowing her to follow up with the prayers of countless friends and family for her entire life. She leaves a tremendous legacy, made strong by her determination to take the hardest parts of her life and fill them with faith and love. She held fast to her belief that Jesus was all she needed and stayed grateful to Him until her last words. She will be greatly missed. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, October 29, 2021 at Quail Springs Baptist Church in Edmond, Oklahoma. Online condolences may be left to Janice’s family at www.schroedermemorialchapel.com. Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone is in charge of arrangements.
