Alice Josephine Purvis Dearman, 95, of Quitman, Mississippi passed away on October 14, 2021 at Lakeside Living Center.
She was born on February 25, 1926 to Forrest Leslie and Onie (May) Ryals in Stonewall, MS.
Alice is survived by, Granddaughters, Amanda Purvis (Beau Mozingo), Jessica (Jimmy) Hughes, Alicia (James) Schrock, and Brandi (Kay) James, Daughter-in-law, Regina Purvis, Brothers, Billy (Carolyn) Ryals, and Arthur H. (Thea) Ryals, Sisters, Francis Jones, Nellie Sykes, and Barbara (Romeo) Vega, 11 Great-Grandchildren and her Special Niece, Tracey Morris.
She was preceded in death by her Parents, Forrest Leslie and Onie May Ryals, Husband, Lynwood "Buddy" Purvis, Son, Steven Wendell Purvis, Brothers, Rodger Earl Ryals and Jesse Ryals, and Sisters, Mildred Peterson and Nancy Pelitier.
Josephine, lovingly known as "Josie" to her family and friends, was a long time member of Union Baptist Church. She worked for many years at Burlington Industries and retired from there in the late 1980s.
The family would like to send out a very special thank you to the nurses and staff of Lakeside Living Center for the care of their loved one over the past 6 years, as well as, a very special thank you to Holly with Southern Care Hospice for her care and compassion.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 19, 2021, 10:00 am at Union Baptist Church, Meridian, Mississippi.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, 11:00 am at the Union Baptist Church, with Bro. Jay Nelson officiating.
Burial will take place in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to be made to the East Mississippi Regional Library of Quitman in her honor.
