Joyce Belemina Montague Newmarket, Ontario Obituary

Joyce Belemina Montague

After 4 score and 5 years, Joyce B. Montague quietly left us on October 7, 2021 to reunite with her mother, father, brother Ashell, her 2nd son Neville, and her grandson Robert. A seamstress by trade, for decades Joyce designed and made clothing for satisfied customers in her native Jamaica. Arriving in Canada in the 80’s, she worked at the Hotel Aurora for a while before focusing on the care of her young grandchildren. As a graduate, and student emeritus, of the “Spare the rod, spoil the child” and “Children should be seen and not heard” schools, it was fascinating for us, her children, to see how quickly Joyce discovered her grandchildren and grand-nieces and nephews were the cutest, smartest, and most perfect children around. Honestly, those of us who grew up with her in our childhood were quite jealous of the perfect later generations! Joyce leaves behind, sons Baldwin Howe, Raphael Henry, and daughters Lillian Howe, Nadeen Henry and Dana Henry-Robinson. She will be missed by her 15 grandchildren, her nephew and nieces, their children and grandchildren, as well as by friends, Yvonne Isaacs, Euline Watson, Vernal Davis and her life-long friend Beryl Lawrence (New York). A Celebration Service for Joyce’s well-lived and full life will be held at: Valley View Alliance Church - 800 Davis Drive, Newmarket ON Saturday, October 23rd - Viewing @ 10:30am. Service @ 11:00am. Interment follows at Queensville Cemetery, Leslie St.
